Ahoy boat owners! You may have missed this Coast Guard regulation change concerning fire extinguishers. Evidently it just went into effect April 20. 2022. For many years most of us have cruised after looking at the old fire extinguisher to see the arrow in green. That works AS LONG AS fire ext is not over 12 years old. Manufacturers date is on bottom or near the UL label. New extinguisher will be 5B, 10B, or 20B. 10 ABC meets requirements for boats under 26'. If your extinguisher is borderline, make sure it is serviceable. Get a new one!
